The Chinese Revolution (1930-1940's) was a period of strife between the Nationalist Party (KMT) led by Chiang Kai-Shek and the insurgent Chinese Communist Party (CCP). American journalist Helen Foster Snow encountered and interviewed top Communist leaders during the revolution. She was an eyewitness to the turbulent political events and her journalistic record created a rare inside documentation of China. Helen was also a humanitarian and heroine for the Chinese people. She rallied support to fight the Japanese, exchanged industrial co-operatives for an economy devastated by the war, and left behind more stable, self-reliant enterprises.
