Legacy
"Mrs. Snow built a bridge of goodwill between the hearts of Americans to the hearts of the Chinese people. Let her life stand as a reminder that what lies behind the very different political systems of the world are real people whose hearts and minds are not so far apart."

Following her death in January 11, 1997, a commemoration of Helen Snow was held in Beijing, arranged by the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries and the China Society for People's Friendship Studies. Friends and members of her family were in attendance.
In November 2009, a bronze statue of Helen Foster Snow was dedicated at the City Center Park in Cedar City, Utah. An Wei was one of 20 Chinese scholars and government officials who came to the dedication. |
"We [An Wei and other scholars] also set up a permanent exhibition called, 'A Great Woman: Helen Foster Snow in China' in our history museum in Xi’an which has attracted thousands upon thousands of visitors. Over 30 schools and universities have close connections with this museum and use this museum as a platform for the young people to receive education of patriotism and internationalism. They learn from our international friends who contributed to our revolution in war times. It has become a cultural exchange."

"The average number of visitors is about 200,000 per year with 300,000 and 500,000 in 1997 and 2009 respectively."
"Because of our close [China-Utah] relations, I suggested we do something to promote and carry forward her legacy which was very well received and supported. We started several programs. The first was the Helen Snow Business Scholar every year at Southern Utah University (SUU) in the city where Helen was raised. The second one we established was the Helen Snow Translation Award through our country. This year was the first year that it was open to American students so the Chinese Universities were opening up the scholarship to American students as well. Another one is the Helen Snow Journalism Award that honors those good and objective reporters and journalists who follow Edgar and Helen’s example in reporting the real life of the Chinese people in an objective way...to make the people’s life better." -An Wei interview
